Palmatin manufactures high-load-bearing, dimensionally stable Glulam (GL24h, GL28h, GL32h) for residential homes, apartment buildings, and commercial or public structures. We cut, drill, and mill components precisely according to your project on modern CNC machinery.
Glulam (glued laminated timber) is an engineered wood product made by bonding multiple solid wood lamellas together into a strong unit via layer lamination. Prior to gluing, the timber is kiln-dried to ~12% moisture content, preventing future cracking and ensuring exceptional dimensional stability and high load-bearing capacity.
Through layered lamination, we produce beams and structures in exact required cross-sections and lengths. All components are processed in CNC centers with millimeter precision, giving architects and builders maximum design freedom, natural wood beauty, and long-term reliability.
Glulam offers several key advantages over steel, concrete, and standard sawn timber, making it a highly valued construction material in modern architecture:
Allows covering long spans with minimal intermediate supports, creating spacious and post-free rooms in both residential and industrial halls.
Significantly lighter than steel or concrete relative to its high load-bearing capacity, reducing foundation loads and simplifying transport and assembly.
During a fire, the outer surface of glulam chars in a controlled manner, insulating inner layers and maintaining structural capacity significantly longer than steel.
Wood is a natural thermal insulator – structural glulam elements do not form cold-conducting bridges, improving building energy efficiency.
Factory pre-prepared joints, cuts, and drill holes accelerate on-site installation and reduce construction-phase labor costs.
Beautiful wood grain and clean finishes make glulam an ideal choice for exposed ceiling beams, columns, and interior structures.
100% natural, non-toxic, and renewable material that balances room humidity and ensures a healthy living and working environment.
Creates a warm, acoustically pleasant, and cozy atmosphere in homes, offices, and public buildings alike.
Glulam is extremely versatile and suitable for many construction fields, ranging from smaller residential homes to large open-space commercial and public buildings:
Floor beams, roof purlins, and rafters in residential houses, apartment buildings, and large-span halls.
Dimensionally stable vertical load-bearing elements in building frameworks, glass facades, carports, and terraces.
Strong structural beams located above window, sliding door, and garage openings to carry upper loads.
Main load-bearing elements and wooden trusses for roofs and intermediate floors in industrial buildings and warehouses.
Roof structures extending from the building volume, overhangs, and load-bearing structures for terraces and balconies.
Exposed wooden arches, angled beams, and frames in churches, shopping centers, or public buildings, offering both aesthetic beauty and load capacity.
We manufacture both standard cross-section glulam beams and custom-engineered, CNC-machined structural elements tailored to your construction project.
| Wood Species | Strength-graded Nordic spruce (strength classes C24 to C40). |
|---|---|
| Moisture Content | ~12% (kiln-dried before lamella gluing, ensuring minimal shrinkage). |
| Strength Classes | GL24h, GL28h, GL32h according to European standard EN 14080:2013. |
| Density | ~450 kg/m³ (average density, depending on wood species and quality class). |
| Standard Dimensions | • Height: starting from 60 mm with 40 mm increments up to 1480 mm • Width: starting from 65 mm with 25 mm increments up to 240 mm Other cross-sections and dimensions can be produced flexibly on custom order. |
| Maximum Dimensions | Height up to 1500 mm | Length up to 13.0 meters as a single solid beam. |
| Glue and Weather Resistance | Weather-resistant PUR structural adhesive (compliant with EN 301 requirements). Suitable for both indoor and exterior environments; the glue joint long-term withstands humidity and temperature fluctuations. |
| CNC Processing & Precision | Precise tenons, cuts, angles, and drill holes are performed on CNC machinery. Custom-shaped details (arched, angled, or other special profile beams) can be produced per project. |
Palmatin glulam complies with all applicable European construction standards, and its production is subject to strict ISO 9001:2015 quality management:
All Palmatin glulam products are marked with CE certification, confirming compliance with the European standard for timber load-bearing structures and the EU Construction Products Regulation, ensuring required structural performance (strength, rigidity).
The production process is subject to continuous internal control and regular independent audits. Each beam is manufactured with designated strength class and dimensional accuracy, ensuring construction safety and reliability.
We use wood material from sustainably managed forests. Palmatin values the environment, using FSC® certified wood whenever possible to ensure legal origin and support sustainable forestry in the supply chain.
Palmatin has decades of experience in timber construction, meaning every glulam element is manufactured with expert knowledge and care, adhering to strict guidelines and testing procedures (e.g., glue joint and wood strength testing) to meet high quality standards.
